Għad-Dell tat-Tila
This event forms part of the ticketing package for Ritmu Roots Festival at Argotti Gardens.
Frans Baldacchino ‘il-Budaj’ continues to be remembered for the fact that he made għana more accessible, and thanks to him għana journeyed to many new places, including ones beyond Malta. Għad-Dell tat-Tila is inspired by one of Budaj’s CDs bearing the same name which shows the many facades of this ‘complete’ artist from Żejtun; an artist in every sense of the word. He painted, he sculpted and he used words in order to reflect what was happening around him, even through a critical lens. That being said, one can say that he used to combine għana with satire to deliver a socially conscious message. The aim of this installation is to create a dialogue with those present about how his words are what encompass Budaj and how għana cannot exist in a vacuum. It is also part of a social ecosystem.
